The idea and the first patent
During a business trip to Reno, Nevada to promote the familys wine business at a trade fair, Mario Moretti Polegato decides to take a walk. Bothered by his overheated feet which were clad in rubber-soled shoes, he instinctively punctured holes into the soles to let air through. He had just discovered a simple and effective way to let excess heat out of his shoes.
Mr. Polegato then developed his idea in the workshop of a small footwear company owned by the family. Once this rubber-sole technology was in place he patented the system right away to create the worlds first breathable shoe .
The Product
across-the-board positioning of products, to cover all ages and genders, makes Geox a one-of-a-kind family brand on the market. The company, in fact makes three different product types which depend on the consumer: womens, mens and childrens. This, is further broken down into three product areas:
" classic products, featuring elegant, traditional design;
" causal products, both very wearable and versatile;
" fashion products featuring the seasons latest trends.
Given the success that Geox obtained with its footwear, the company has extended its breathability concept to apparel as well (especially when it comes to jackets and coats) and to sports footwear.
All Geox products boast Italian style and technology a unique blend of fashion and functionality.
